Camp POWHER

Powher is a free annual 10-day camp based in Jilin, China, organized in partnership with local sports schools to empower girls through physical training and learning. Each day participants take part in two hours of wrestling and three hours of rehearsal, and the program provides lunch and nutritious snacks while guiding students toward performing a final all-English play at the end of the camp.

Powher’s mission is to empower girls both physically and intellectually through wrestling, self-defense, and learning English through theatre, helping girls around the world to build confidence and the courage to stand up for themselves and others.

 A freestyle wrestler who made history by winning India’s first gold medal in women’s wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She also became the first Indian woman wrestler to qualify for the Olympic Games.
